Texas v. Johnson

Overview: The question of the legality of flag burning raises important constitutional issues, as well as demonstrates the system of checks and balances in our government. Read the following five sources, then compose an essay that states your reasoned opinion on the legality of flag burning. You can assume the role of a Supreme Court Justice, or that of an attorney arguing in front of the court. The essay should be at least 300 words, which would comprise an opening paragraph with thesis, two or three developmental paragraphs which refer directly to “Source A” “Source B” “Source C” “Source D” or “Source E”, an analysis of “state and individual interests,” and a concluding paragraph.
